HILDUR ÁSGEIRSDÓTTIR JÓNSSON (American, b.1963 in Reykjavík, Iceland) lives and works between Reykjavík, Iceland, and Cleveland, OH. She received an MFA in 1995, and a BFA in 1991 from Kent State University. Upcoming and recent solo exhibitions include Kent State University (Kent, OH), ANDREW RAFACZ (Chicago, IL), Tibor de Nagy Gallery (New York, NY), The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art (Charlotte, NC), Abattoir Gallery (Cleveland, OH), Frederic R.Weisman Museum of Art (Malibu,CA), Hafnarborg (Hafnarfjörður, Iceland), and Reykjavík Art Museum (Reykjavik, Iceland). Group exhibitions include ANDREW RAFACZ (Chicago, IL), Scandinavian House (New York, NY), Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts (Little Rock, AK), Tibor De Nagy (New York, NY), Wasserman Projects (Detroit,MI), Central Museum of Textile (Lodz, Poland), and The Rose Art Museum (curated by Katy Siegel) at Brandeis University (Waltham, MA). Jónsson is co-represented by Tibor de Nagy Gallery (New York, NY), and Abattoir Gallery (Cleveland, OH). She has been written about in The New York Times, Hyperallergic, SCAN Magazine, The Plain Dealer, Akron Beacon Journal, and The New Yorker, amongst many others. Her work is included in numerous private and public collections.
